The Himachal Pradesh Common Entrance Test (HPCET) 2023 for admissions in BTech and B.Pharm shall be conducted by Himachal Pradesh Technical University (HPTU), Hamirpur, on 14 May 2023. Online applications for the same have been started w.e.f. 23 March.

Entrance tests clashing with HPCET: Please note that the date of 4 other key entrance tests namely AMU-BTech (Engineering), ISI-Stat-Math (Mathematics), IGRUA-Pilot-CPL (Maths & Science) and NCHM-JEE (Hotel Management) clashes with the date of HPCET. 

About HPCET: Himachal Pradesh Technical University (HPTU), a premier institution of undergraduate, postgraduate teaching and research in the country, was established in 2010 as a State Government University of Himachal Pradesh. 

HPTU conducts Himachal Pradesh Common Entrance Test (HPCET) for admissions to B.Tech / B.Pharmacy / B.Pharmacy (Ayurveda), M.Tech, M.Pharmacy, MCA and MBA courses offered by HPTU and colleges affiliated to it, deemed to be University or other Universities established under the State Act or constituent units thereto. 

Presently, 47 Aided and Unaided Professional Institutions, located in different parts of Himachal Pradesh, are affiliated to this University.

No. of institutes/seats : The seats available in different affiliated Institutions shall be specified separately in the Prospectus – II (Admission Brochure 2023-24). However, the tentative seats available in colleges affiliated to Himachal Pradesh Technical University and University campus/Off-Campuses in previous year (2022-23) are given below for reference.
- BTech: Approx 2,264 seats in 14 institutes
- BPharm: Approx. 1,380 seats in across 21 colleges 

NTPC & NHPC nominee seats: In Govt. Hydro Engg. College, Bandla, Distt. Bilaspur, Nine (9) seats i.e., 15% of the sanctioned intake in each discipline shall be filled up through nomination from industry partners (NTPC and NHPC 7.5% each) as per the applicable admission norms.
